Matariki New Year

Matariki is the maori new year. Matariki is where the cluster of stars appear. How to see matariki, In late may and early june.


If you look at the nth east of the horizon. About 1/2 an hour before dawn you will be able to see the 7 stars and disappear in july. Matariki is important because it is a time for remembrance and it is a time for abundance of food.

These are some things that people do to celebrate matariki, feast, hangi, kites, flown, and songs and dances. Maori new year today people still fly kites they do fireworks and they go to concerts and special events.

Immersion Assembly.

On Monday there was A Immersion Assembly at the start of the term. First was the Team 1 singing competition. 

The winner gets to win the prize to go with Team 1 to the zoo. Team Two & Three were learning about dinosaurs & lizards how they survived or die. 

Team Four were learning about the safai that was my favourite part. The last Team was  learning about saviours philippines.

Ankylosaurus

Ankylosaurus is a dinosaur that lived in the cretaceous period. It is diet to herbivore. It is the hardest dinosaur to kill. It is 4 feet long, 4-5 tons, and 8 and a ½ feet width.


Ankylosaurus means stiff lizard. It is a very strong dinosaur because it has armor. His armor is his body and his tail.

They are not a carnivore. They lived between about 68-66 millions of years ago. They will die if they eat a lot of food.

A T-Rex is a dinosaur that lived in the early cretaceous period. It was a carnivore eater, that eats meat. When they  lay their eggs the baby T-Rex will be eaten, because when they grow up, they will kill the other dinosaurs.

T-Rex means tyrant king lizard because it was the biggest dinosaur that lived in the cretaceous period. It was a dinosaur that can kill the little dinosaurs. The T-Rex was 40 feet long and 20 feet high of a size of a bus.

The giganotosaurus and the spinosaurus were bigger than the T-Rex. The T-Rex was a carnivore. It could eat 500 pounds of meat in 1 bite. When it dies, it can leave the bones by itself. The ground squashes the bones to break it apart. Then it’s finished the people dig a hole and the T-Rex bones turn into fossils.

Size: 16 thousand pounds, 40 feet long, 20 feet tall, 6 tons heavier.
Diet: Carnivore.
Other features: It lived 85 years ago.   The T-Rex kills a small dinosaur, the giganotosaurus and the spinosaurus are bigger than the T-Rex.
It lived in the forest because they hunt for the herbivore dinosaurs.  It was a fast dinosaur, and  it can eat 500 pounds of 1 meat in 1 bite, it has 3 toes like a bird.
It can lift is tall high because to use his muscle to go left or right,
The T-Rex are like a lion because they have sharp teeth to because they look like a T-Rex.
The body T-Rex has very good eyes site because it is very good seeing other dinosaurs.
The T-Rex is the best dinosaur in the other dinosaurs. It is like a ankylosaurus.





T-Rex was a dinosaur that lived in the cretaceous period 85 million years ago. It was a carnivore eater that can eat smaller dinosaurs. It was the largest cretaceous period dinosaurs.

I-Rex

My made up dinosaur is I-Rex because it’s like a T-Rex like a meat eater that means it was a carnivore. A I-Rex is more stronger then a T-Rex, it lived 90 millions years ago. A I-Rex dinosaur can’t run fast because they are too big.


He lived in a forest named jurassic park, USA. This fossil was found in the forest in the cretaceous park when he got killed by a ankylosaurus. 65 million years ago. It was a dinosaur that killed the triassic period because the triassic dinosaur are to skinny because they don’t have armor.

His teeth is to killed small dinosaurs. His tail does move back and forward and stay up so he can move. His body is very strong, because he has armor. His nose goes it into his brain so he no who he kills. His legs make him to move.

Auckland Museum.

On Friday. Room 11 & 12 went on a trip to the Auckland Museum. Our leader was Miss Tito and when we got there, we learn about a T-Rex and Triceratops. The fossil was of a triceratops poo. In the room, he had a game that’s called Is it a fossil or not.


There 2 boys and 1 girl playing the game. After lunch, we had a booklet to find clues around the museum. When we had lunch again, we played touch with the rugby ball.


After lunch, We went rolling on the hill with rubbish bags. I felt dizzy when I was rolling down the hill. After that, we went back to school and have a rest.

Cross Country.


Last Monday after lunch, the whole school went to their classes and we went to the field to do cross country. We started with the Yr1s and Yr2s and Mr Burt said "on your marks, get set, go." 

I wanted to come 3rd or 4th, but I came 5th. The Yr 1-6 have to run a lap. The Yr7&8s have to run 2 laps. I was sprinting for the finish line because Awathan was behind me, and I wanted to beat him.
My nana was cheering for me. I got tired when I was running and I was feeling very nervous.. I didn't give up!
I was so proud of myself when I finished the cross country.

In the future I like to be a NRL league player.



NRL Players have to a professional players and you have to play for clubs and to get in the NRL. You have to be an all star.



NRL players don’t cry or give up.

My favourite players are.
Billy Slater, Jamie Soward, Sam Perrett, Corey Parker, Johnathan Thurston, Shaun Johnson and Roger Tuivasa-Sheck.

The Roosters, The Cowboys,

On wednesday zac who is 9 year old boy, he saved his 2 year old neighbour penny from the road. She was about to crawl on to the motorway. Zac jumped out of his treehut, and stopped her from crawling onto the road. Zac is a kid who wanted to be a superhero and now he is.

I went on the bouncy castle. We have be in a big line to wait for our turn. We climbed up, some steps to get to the top. So I did a big jump!. Then land all the way at the bottom. I didn’t like it. Because it’s not fun.

The year fours and our teachers, went to see Motat on Monday. We got there on a old bus. It was exciting because I wanted to go, to the challenge zone.

At motat, class one went to the motat village outside. Then we went to the pump station. And we went on the tram ride but it was boring because all of the talking.

The fun part was the mirror maze because it was hard to find the right way. And my very fun part is the earthquake cafe because it keep shaking and rumbling.
